Kristen Nelson (American b. 1945)

Kristin Nelson began painting at the age of 17 when she saw a collection of American primitive paintings at the home of her future in-laws, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson. The eldest daughter of football legend, Tom Harmon, Nelson grew up in a Hollywood family of achievement, celebrity and competition.

In her naïve paintings Nelson chronicles thirty years of the American Dream: weddings, birthdays, Halloweens and Christmases, Summer houses and broad suburban lawns. Her condolence card to Mrs. Kennedy was a painting of a happy, young family in the White House and was later purchased by Mrs. Kennedy after she left the White House. Nelson has captured the everyday lives of her family and friends in numerous public and private commissions
