Emily Buchanan (American b. 1966)

Ms. Buchanan was born in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts, and began painting as a child with her grandmother, Eloise Gardner. Developing her passion for art Buchanan pursued her studies at the Lyme Academy of Art in Connecticut, the National Academy of Art in New York, and the Art Students League in New York City.

Ms. Buchanan credits Paul Ingbretson of the Boston School with being her most inspiring teacher. A dedicated Plein Air painter, Ms. Buchanan lives in Cornwall, Ct. and paints the Connecticut Valley landscape, as well as the Hudson River Valley, the North Shore of Boston, and Cape Cod including the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

The artist is represented in the Bates College Museum as well as numerous private collections throughout the United States.
